Introduction

At Yist, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the handling of user data in our application.

Key Privacy Points

  • GitHub API Only: Yist communicates exclusively with the GitHub API. We do not have our own server-side infrastructure.
  • No Data Collection: We do not collect, store, or process any user data outside of what is necessary for the app's functionality with GitHub.
  • No Third-Party Communication: Yist does not communicate with any third-party services, nor does it allow any third parties to collect user data.
  • Local Storage and iCloud Sync: App data is stored locally on your device and certain data is synced with your personal iCloud account. We cannot access this data.

Information Handling

The information Yist handles is limited to what's necessary to interact with your GitHub account, Gists, and to sync certain app data to iCloud. This includes:

  • Your GitHub authentication token (stored securely on your device)
  • Gist content and metadata (synced directly with GitHub)
  • App-specific data such as Collections and pinned Gists (synced to your personal iCloud account)

Data Security

Yist is designed as a client-side application without any server infrastructure of its own. This means:

  • All your data remains on your local device, is transmitted directly to GitHub, or is synced with your personal iCloud account.
  • We use secure HTTPS connections when communicating with the GitHub API.
  • Your GitHub authentication token is stored securely on your device using system-level security features.
  • We have no access to your data stored locally or synced to iCloud, and no ability to collect or store it on any servers.

iCloud Sync

Yist uses Apple's iCloud service to sync certain app data across your devices:

  • Only app-specific data like Collections and pinned Gists are synced to iCloud.
  • This sync ensures a consistent experience across your Apple devices.
  • The synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account. While we do not have access to this data.
  • iCloud sync can be disabled in the app settings if you prefer not to use this feature.
